A growing biomanufacturing and precision fermentation industry also requires a trained workforce. iFAB’s workforce development partners are prepared to train individuals with a variety of backgrounds and focuses to meet workforce needs. Biomanufacturing will require technicians, trades, engineers, scientists and more.
iFAB’s workforce programs include:
- Undergraduate programs in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Chemical, Biological, and Mechanical Engineering, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Food Science, and more through the University of Illinois.
- Technician training programs at both Parkland College and Richland Community College
- Industry-specific training through our Labor Union partners, Decatur Building & Construction Trades, East Central Illinois Building & Construction Trades Council, UA Plumbers and Pipefitters, United Steel Workers.
- IBRL’s FASTER Internship program where students gain hands-on experience in our pilot plant working on industry projects.
- Short Courses in fermentation, downstream processing, extrusion, and more. These 2-3 day short courses target industry professionals
