
Midwest Bioprocessing Center (MBC) is an innovative biotechnology company developing sustainable specialty ingredients, glycochemicals, and advanced biomanufacturing technologies. MBC has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Ph.D. scientist to help advance our research programs, support commercialization, and contribute to the growth of a rapidly expanding company.
Working within a small multidisciplinary team, you will contribute across synthetic chemistry, enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, fermentation, glycochemistry, synthetic biology, machine learning–enabled molecule discovery, and product development. The position is particularly well suited for an early-career Ph.D. scientist seeking exceptional opportunities for responsibility, scientific leadership, publications, intellectual property development, and career growth.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry (Synthetic Organic Chemistry preferred), Biochemistry, Glycochemistry,
Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with strong synthetic chemistry skills. - Analytical Expertise. HPLC / UPLC, LC-MS / LC-MS/MS, NMR (data interpretation/troubleshooting)
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Good/strong scientific publication record commensurate with experience
- Experience independently planning and executing research projects
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary startup environment
